Opening Day is one of the great traditions of boating in the Pacific Northwest — the moment when the fleet gathers, flags go up, and the cruising season truly begins.
Anne and I aboard s/v Blue Heaven are excited to host this year’s Opening Day gathering as your Cruise Captains, and we look forward to welcoming the fleet for a weekend of camaraderie, good food, and time on the water.
This year the Navy Yacht Club Everett will celebrate Opening Day together at Guest Dock 5 at the Port of Everett Marina. Whether you arrive under canvas or under power, you are part of the same fleet.
As in previous years, decorated vessels will receive one complimentary night of moorage courtesy of the Port of Everett Marina. We encourage everyone to show their creativity and club spirit with signal flags, burgees, sail-inspired décor, or anything that reflects your own point of sail.
This year our Opening Day ceremony will also serve as the club’s May General Meeting, so there will not be a separate evening meeting in May. Members who are not arriving by boat are warmly encouraged to drive in and join us for the Saturday festivities, including the Opening Day ceremony at 1100, followed by lunch and afternoon activities. Guest Dock 5 is part of the Port of Everett Waterfront Place area, with ample nearby parking for members arriving by car.
Friday – Arrival & Dockside Gathering
1300 — Guest Dock Opens for NYCE
Members begin arriving at Guest Dock 5 as the fleet gathers for the weekend.
1700 — Dockside Happy Hour & Pizza Night
Back by popular demand!
We’ll provide:
* Pizza ovens
* Dough
* Sauce
* Cheese
Participants are encouraged to bring favorite toppings, appetizers, beverages, or specialty additions to share as we kick off the weekend and reconnect with friends along the dock.
Our resident pizza chef will once again help keep the ovens running and the pizzas flowing.
Saturday – Opening Day Celebration
0800 — Dockside Breakfast
We’ll start the day with a hearty breakfast on the dock:
1100 — Opening Day Ceremony
Our Opening Day gathering will include:
1200 — Burgers & Dogs Lunch
The grills will be hot for a classic dockside lunch (burgers & dogs).
Afternoon — Games & Dockside Festivities
We’ll welcome our friends from the neighboring Everett Yacht Club and boating community to join us for some friendly fun and activities. Plans may include:

Evening — Dinner on Your Own
Members are encouraged to explore the Everett waterfront restaurants, gather informally aboard boats, or continue enjoying the festivities dockside.
Sunday – Farewell Breakfast
0800 — Mother’s Day Oatmeal Bar Breakfast on the Dock
Before boats head out, we’ll gather one more time for a relaxed breakfast featuring:
After breakfast we’ll send everyone off with full bellies and fair winds for the cruising season ahead.
Opening Day is always a highlight of the year — a chance to reconnect with friends, welcome new members, and celebrate the boating season together.
We look forward to seeing the dock filled with NYCE flags, decorated boats, and great company.
