Calling All NYCE Adventurers! Join an Early August Gulf Islands/San Juan Islands Buddy Cruise!
Calling all Navy Yacht Club Everett (NYCE) members! Are you ready for an unforgettable pre-Hood Canal cruise adventure?
Phil Gay (SV Toccata) and I (SV Blue Heaven) are planning to set sail for the stunning Gulf Islands in early August and we'd love for you to join us on this buddy cruise! While this is a sailboat-focused itinerary, we welcome power boats and there will be plenty of fun for all propulsion types.
What is a Buddy Cruise?
An unofficial gathering of more than two NYCE boats. Think of it as a more intimate and relaxed version of a traditional NYCE cruise. There's no cruise captain, no budget, and plenty of room for flexibility, good company, beautiful scenery, and the freedom to explore at your own pace. Any member can publish a buddy cruise. Let me know if you'd like to share any going forward.
The Itinerary:
This is a first draft, and we're open to suggestions! Here's a glimpse of what we have in mind:
July 31st: Set sail for Oak Harbor
August 1st: Cruise from Oak Harbor to Friday Harbor
August 2nd: Explore Friday Harbor, then journey onwards to Sidney, BC (our first foray into Canadian waters!)
August 3rd: Head to Thetis Island and enjoy the renowned C&C Yachts Rendezvous at Telegraph Harbour Marina (August 3rd-5th). Or, if you're not a C&C'er, you can explore Thetis Island or nearby gems?
August 5th: Cruise from Telegraph Harbour to Ganges Harbour
August 6th: Explore Ganges Harbour, then set sail for Lopez Island's Aleck Bay
August 7th: Journey from Aleck Bay to Port Townsend, WA
August 8th: Enjoy a leisurely sail from Port Townsend to Port Ludlow
August 9th: Wrap up the adventure with a scenic cruise from Port Ludlow back to Pleasant Harbor
What to Expect:
Beautiful scenery: The Gulf Islands boast stunning landscapes, charming towns, and hidden coves.
Relaxation and camaraderie: Enjoy the company of fellow NYCE members and guests to create lasting memories.
Flexibility: This is our cruise, our way! We can adjust the itinerary based on the group's preferences and weather conditions.
